WHERE AND HOW TO TRAVEL WITH BABY: TIPS FROM A MOM

WHERE AND HOW TO TRAVEL WITH BABY: TIPS FROM A MOM

Even though the adventure can always be a little scary, traveling with a baby has never been easier than it is today. Not only do the majority of destinations offer services adapted to families, but in addition, the equipment dedicated to the comfort of young children continues to evolve towards greater autonomy and ease of use. One by one, I suggest that you overcome all preconceptions together so as not to deprive yourself of the pleasure of traveling with your family.

1 - AT WHAT AGE CAN MY BABY TRAVEL?

your baby can be on the trip as early as 2 weeks old. However, reason often prompts parents to wait a few extra weeks because newborns need lots of sleep, calm and a suitable pace of life. Except in cases of absolute necessity, it is therefore recommended to wait until baby's 3 or 4 months before embarking on a long trip. It also allows parents to be more peaceful on the spot.
Note,  however, that if there are few restrictions on the minimum age, you need to be extremely organized. A trip with her baby should be prepared well in advance in order to limit and anticipate as much as possible the unforeseen and inconveniences. Especially if you are traveling by plane with your toddlers.

2 - DESTINATIONS TO AVOID

In general, when traveling with young children, it is recommended to avoid high-risk destinations from a safety or health point of view. Countries that are politically unstable or located in regions where the climate is too harsh are therefore strongly discouraged. Too high an altitude is also not ideal for babies, and areas where there is a risk of contracting certain diseases such as malaria or malaria should also be avoided.

Preferably choose areas where the jet lag is not too great so as not to disturb your baby's biological clock.

For those who love exotic travel, consider choosing the right season, that is, the dry season when the rains are not abundant and the humidity is also not too high.

                           3 - RECOMMENDED COUNTRIES

In winter
In winter, the Caribbean destination is recommended for an organized trip between December and April. The Dominican Republic remains in particular a very pleasant family destination. On the program: coconut and palm trees as far as the eye can see, lagoons bathed by turquoise waters and white sand beaches; without forgetting the easy way of life of the island and the sense of hospitality of its inhabitants who make the country famous.

Another winter destination widely sought after by families is Thailand. Southeast Asia is a great region of the world for family travel. Considered sacred, children are entitled to special attention from the population.

In summer
From the beginning of spring until the end of summer, France, and Europe in general, offer pleasant weather and a beautiful diversity of landscapes. Greece, Italy and the Balearics guarantee families a total change of scenery and lush nature, accessible just a 4-hour flight from Paris.

Between June and September, Bali remains a popular destination for families who avoid the monsoon period, which is very trying in this region of the world. The island offers a wide range of sports and nautical activities in the heart of breathtaking landscapes where white sand beaches and rice fields mingle.

4 - BABY-FRIENDLY HOTELS

My most valuable advice would be to stay in hotels with kid-friendly facilities and services like those offered by The Little Guest Hotels Collection, a collection of luxury hotels for families. A quality label, it brings together prestigious establishments providing their customers with the equipment essential for the comfort of the little ones (car seats, bottle warmers, pacifiers, strollers, sterilizers, etc.). Not to mention the essential baby clubs! The little ones are pampered there while games and activities adapted to their age are dedicated to them. Thanks to them, the holidays are all the more profitable for parents who can entrust their baby, without fear, to early childhood specialist

5 - PLANE OR CAR?

6 - What to pack in your carrying bag when traveling with children

. Cabin baggage

Take with you an emergency set with everything you need during the holidays (changing cream, diapers, bodysuits, socks, bottles ...) Of course, you will be more loaded, but you will no longer have to fear whether your suitcase is lost or remains in transit between two airports. Remember to bring some jumpers and some toys to occupy your baby and keep him warm during the trip.

Carry the baby against you (from 0 to 6 months, use a carrying sling such as Solly Wrap or Je Porte Mon Bébé, and after 6 months a baby carrier, type Ergobaby). This way, you will have your hands free and you will not have to wake him up to pass under the portico. Use your stroller to carry everything else: laptop, changing bag, cozy ... Do not hesitate to ask for help to unload everything and to fold the stroller.

 Toys

Toddlers are not very interested in them and prefer their parents' hugs and faces (“hid / hello”, does that mean anything to you?). No need to clutter your luggage with rattles and soft toys. Then, they love to discover their new environment by exploring the seatbelt in the car or on the plane, tearing up brochures or magazines or playing with your things (lipstick, tissues ...). For a bigger child, bring some of their favorite toys and also some that they don't know yet. Plus, if there are certain videos, songs or shows he likes, download them to your mobile and use them if your baby is crying and you are panicking.
